The Star Valley Half Marathon

We ran year 5 of the Star Valley Half Marathon.  It was a perfect day and a perfect race.  Much, much, better than the Neola Half.  We had food and water and potties and lots of people cheering and cute shirts and even medals!  I got a time of 1:57 and was thrilled.  Dave beat his Neola time by 25 minutes and he was thrilled as well.  He WASN'T last which was best of all!

Mariah was kind enough to get up early and meet us at the finish line.
BethAnn had several members from her family come and run it for the first time.  Her sister, Catherine, celebrated 20 years of being Cancer Free, by running it.
Here is the Call clan:  Hannah, BethAnn, Soren, DeeAnne, Shirlene, Dave, Dani, and Brian.
We went home and all had naps and got over our "post race sickness" and by 4 p.m. we were good for our annual Red Baron run.  We all eat burgers, shakes and fries and feel no guilt whatsoever!

The Call Barn

This year was the first time our family has actually used the Call Barn.  We had our Star Valley Half Marathon meal there and Dave, Mariah and I spent the weekend there.  It was so very nice.  Everything was so perfect and clean and they have worked so hard to make it a wonderful place to be.  We really enjoyed being there.

Law Reunion

We had our 2015 Law Reunion, but this year it was much different.  There were only 5 cousins present.  The last five tried hard to make up for the other missing 21!  It was also a very low key reunion because our camping plans got changed.  One because it was raining and two, because Lexi was in the hospital and receiving the news that she has m.s.  That put a little downer on everyone's spirits as we are very concerned about her.
They did go to the pool a couple of times and Jared got a lot of attention when he showed off his diving talents.  Those Orangeville folks just were not used to seeing those maneuvers!
We still held our Camping Baby shower for Steve and Dana.  We had a good 15 minutes before it rained!
Here they are naming the Baby Animals names.  Steve and Dana actually won this one.

Bob and Jared raced to put marshmallows in their cups.
Dana practicing feeding a baby.  Steve looks awesome in a bow and with a bib.
The baby food contest garnered 4 contestants.  Brooklyn opted out after the first bite and Dallin was the confirmed winner.

Wood Haulin Party

Since Cado is not around to do all the wood chopping and hauling, we are now having to ask friends and neighbors for assistance.  We invited the Wallace's and Smoot's over on Monday night for a Cafe Rio feast and then we invited them to help us haul the tons and tons of wood.

We ended up putting most of it by the shed because it was not possible to fit it all under the deck.  We are set for our wood supply for years to come...or at least until Cado returns!

Neola Half Marathon

Dave and I decided to sign up for the Neola Half Marathon.  We were supposed to do a 12 mile run on Saturday anyway, so we decided that we may as well do it with some company.  I've always feared the Neola half, because it has four miles uphill before you get to go downhill.  When we got on the bus, we quickly realized that it looked only "serious" runners were in this race.  Dave immediately said, "I'm going to be last!" I readily agreed.  Needless to say, we made it.  But...there were not many water stops and there was only one potty stop.  And at the end, there wasn't even a cool medal as a souvenir for all of that hard work!  I got in under at 1:59 and was very surprised.  Bo was there to greet us and Mariah was there somewhere as well.  She just had better things to do than to wait for us.
We went and got breakfast while we waited for Dave.  Bo ate a lot and I ate a tiny bit because by that time, I was feeling rather sick.
Dave lived up to his prediction and came in last, but he got personal cheering as he did.  I think he likes the last spot just for that.  They even brought him a water bottle and an extra prize just for finishing!  Sheesh.  I couldn't even find water when I finished.

So, my ranking of the Neola Half Marathon is that it will be a one time thing.  It was a tough run, with too little water and too few potties and we didn't even get a medal at the end!  ha ha.  That's really the only reason I choose to run these crazy long races.  Without that, I'm just not that dedicated.

Great Grandpa Evan Call

My cousin posted this picture of my Grandpa Evan Call and three of his kids.  I'm not sure which three of their 14 kids these are, but it's a good piece of history for us to remember him by.
