I Think We Got the Good End of this Deal!

After the family reunion there was a lot of cousin switching going on. We got two girls for one boy. Not a bad trade when you realize that these girls came home and helped us load up two hogs and then spent Sunday cooking us a gourmet dinner.

Law Reunion 2009

The yearly tradition of the Law Family Reunion was held this week. We went camping up in Joe's Valley. I think we are getting smarter as the years go by because this time we actually camped at a spot that was really convenient, easy to get to and gorgeous. The girls made it even more beautiful by painting a few of the local rocks.

I'm not sure what happened in this picture but Brooklyn and Mariah were almost instantly dirty. That's a great start to 3 days of camping.

It was chilly. This whole summer is chilly everywhere we go. One of the nights was especially cold and I was wishing we knew how to turn on the heater in our trailer. Where are the Wallace's when we need them!

Mariah's big ball was a great hit on the volleyball court.

Grandpa spent one morning teaching the grandkids a game somewhat like bocce. They had a great time playing it, although we think that one croquet ball is now missing.

Kelly and Doug spent some male bonding time tying flies.

Everyone loved the two days of boating! Dave and Jackson were the only two who received some serious injuries. I have got to put down some "age related rules" when it comes to pulling people on those tubes!

Here's the annual grandkid shot. We were missing 4 very important people...Dayton, Trevor, Shaylie and Leslie! (Oh, and Brooklyn. But she really was there)

Remembering Shanon Johnson

Dave's good friend Shanon Johnson passed away Monday, June 29. He had melanoma cancer and fought it bravely for a long time. He was a coach and a teacher at Uintah High School. He and Dave knew each other from high school and were roommates in college for a couple of years. Shanon married Tara three weeks before Dave and I were married. They have 3 children.

Dave had the honor of being able to speak at his funeral. Shanon's funeral was a wonderful, modest tribute to a truly great guy.

New Kitties

When Mariah begged for a new kitten from her friend last fall, I agreed to it on one condition... That the kitty be a boy. Well, we were told it was and so she got it. I guess these four new kittens now prove that Weezy was definitely NOT a boy!

Meeting Missionaries from Dayton's Mission

Here's a late post from Grandpa Law's 80th birthday party. When I was there, a couple came and introduced themselves to me. They said that they had just returned home from the Texas Houston South Mission. They worked with Dayton when he went to Galveston to do clean up work. I was instantly bonded with them!
