The "Dad" Talk
Dayton just called and said that he had the "dad talk." Yep, just barely and he said it WAS scary! Nevertheless, he passed the test and Brooke's dad said he was fully supportive of him asking Brooke to marry him and then he...wished Dayton lots of luck for his future! :) We are happy parents.

Cado's Basketball Season
Cado is over half way through the basketball season and they are now up and running with their region games. These boys are in a very tough region, but so far, Cado's sophomore team has show the two big private schools from Salt Lake, (Juan Diego and Judge) that country boys know how to play ball. These pics from Friday's game against Judge show Cado's sophomore team proving that once again. It was a hard fought game but the sophomores were the only Union team to win.
Cado had an impressive night. Here he is shooting one of the many three points shots that he made. We're pretty sure that boy made it into the 20's in scoring! It must be the magic of wearing his "dad's" number 33!
Cado, Gavin and Jayce having a little rest before they go in and finish off the game.
Another three points!
The varsity game was not nearly as intense. Union really got beat. However, we spent most of our time being entertained by the Judge Memorial Catholic High School student section. It took us a little while to figure out why they were all dressed up as "country hicks" but we were quite honored when we realized it was a tribute to these Basin boys. Their halftime show was even a country line dance. Impressive! What we liked most was the straw that they made sure that they chewed on throughout the game. Most of us on the other side, had forgotton ours and were really wanting to borrow theirs! Hum, I'm thinking those Union fans should dress up as nuns and priests when they come to the basin.

First Babies of the Year
Tonight we had our first baby sheep of 2012 born. Alter pulled through again to being the first momma to give birth.
The Betting Continues...
The nightly game of Hearts went on every night over the vacation. So did the nightly betting. Cafe Rio is always the prized reward. Cado and Dave are tied for grand losers so no one has had to pay up yet. Poor Dayton, I don't think he's going to get his free meal for a very long time.
Bringing in the New Year with the Law's
We spent New Years in Orangeville. Games filled most of the agenda. Crack About and Speed were played nightly at the gym. Everyone was grateful that the ball was a very soft one this year.
New Years Eve we played Grandma's games. We had six different stations and rotated around. We kept score to see who was the ultimate winner. Here are a few playing Skunk!
Pick Up Sticks.
Rummy.
The Flour Game.
Yahtzee.
Mariah and her bestest every cousins.

Dayton is Home...Time to Work
There is usually a project and a mess waiting for Dayton whenever he comes home. This time it was trimming out the new windows that we just put in. He and Cado did a ton of cutting, nailing and I did most of the painting. When it was all finished...it looked awesome.
We did find that Cado would get a little tired every now and then. It was quite handy to be in our bedroom during those times. We caught him feeling guiltless; sleeping, as Dayton continued to work. It kind of reminded us of the picture we took this summer of him asleep on the trampoline while Dayton was building the deck. That boy must be going through a growing spurt!

Mariah's Temple Trip
Mariah got to go with the youth for a trip to Salt Lake to see the temple, visitors center and the humanitarian center. It was a very chilly and kind of scary bus ride, but everything else was just fantastic!
Mariah's Christmas Recital
Mariah had her Christmas piano recital on the Sunday before Christmas. She and Emily played a great duet together.
Jace and Cado are finally doing "payback" as they now know what it feels like to go and watch their sisters' events.
