Only One Fish!

What could be more fun than spending the day on the ice in the freezing wind? Well,Brooke may have some suggestions but she was a good sport to face the elements as we went to Starvation and met Uncle Doug.

We were a little nervous at first because Doug's leg went right through the ice as we were walking on the lake. That couldn't help but make up tread lightly. Greg Wheeler and his buddies were there ready to meet us with the augers and they quickly helped us drill the holes.

Then we scooped out the ice.

And began to sit and wait...and wait...and wait.

And wait. Mariah, Abby and Brooke finally gave up and went to the gas station to buy hot chocolate. We moved to a different spot and dug new holes to see if we could have any better luck.

Doug and Dave actually fell through two "unknown" holes and we think that got their heart rates going pretty good. Needless to say, those wet feet did not feel that good on that cold ice.

Finally, we had all decided that it was time to go home after a a very "unsuccessful" day. Then the miracle happened! One fish...was caught...by me......and it was a nice large rainbow!

This guy was our tasty lunch. YUM. I think I could like fishing.

President's Day Projects

I can't remember what this game is called but Dayton and Cado spent all day Saturday building it and everyone had a great time playing it. We are thinking that Brooke's family will be impressed at this handywork!

Valentine's Day Surprise

Dave and Dave surprised Karen and me with a Valentine's spa and dinner date. Emily and Mariah set up an amazing spa we we received the greatest pedicures ever! There was calm music, low lighting, chocolate and Diet Coke. Those girls know what makes their moms happy.

The men stayed upstairs and cooked up a seafood pasta feast. They also provided french onion soup, italian green salads, and chocolate cream pie for dessert.

While they cooked, we had enough time to give Mariah and Emily pedicures in return.

Here is the crew ready to serve the dinner.

They ate in the servants kitchen while we ate at the fine dining table.

It was a perfect evening!

Collection Jars are Popping Up

Collection jars have been popping up lately at our house. Up above is Cado's Disaster Fund to help this poor boy pay vet bills for his dog breeding mishap. That poor boy has even had nightmares about how much money he is going to have to pay to settle this. So far he has about $120.00 of generous donations given. He is willing to bring the jar to any local fundraising events to earn more. Save your pennies and give generously.

As you can see, this is where our pennies are going. Mariah decided that it was time to start saving for another cruise so she made this jar and set it right by our normal "money" jar. I think she is hoping that we accidentally put our spare change in this jar instead.

A Whole Lotta' Sheep

All the babies have been born and nowadays that barnyard looks like a "whole lotta sheep!" It's really quite a fun site to see and Dave is truly in his farmer element!
