Girls Weekend 2011

This year our Girls Weekend started out a little rough. Mom had just found out that she had a blood clot and an aneurysm all at the same time just to make the weekend more exciting. Needless to say, she just wasn't feeling like she could make the trek to Logan, so we decided to keep the events and excitement in Star Valley. I was able to go up on Thursday, which was not that hot of a day for mom. She was on double oxygen and still not having a great time breathing. We all knew that our four mile jog would be out this year! ha ha

That night wasn't much better and mom had us a bit scared for a while. But after some pain pills, magnesium pills and other pills, she was able to finally sleep in the recliner.
The next day Joyce showed up for the party. But, since she was feeling sick, she had to wear a mask and not get too close to mom... Needless to say, she was a lot of fun too!
We all got our annual "shopping money" and needed to put it to good use. Too bad the Family Dollar burned a week ago! We literally had no place to go; so we decided that internet shopping would be the next best thing. The good news was that the Kohls 30% off certificates even worked ONLINE!

We were all pretty amazed to see what dad had given mom for Christmas this year. Yep, a gigantic Elvis switchblade. Nothing says love like that! Someday we are going to have to fight over who inherits that!
We spent some time looking at dad's new "old" house and scavaging through it and then we went up town to get some take out dinner.
Star Valley does have the blessing of having one of the most amazing Fish Restaurants I know of. It is so delicious that we didn't even mind the 30 minute wait it took to prepare our food!

This was one of the great signs at the seafood place.
Because of our nightly scare the evening before, DeeAnne and mom spent "craft time" counting out pills for mom. We had discovered that she couldn't remember how long it had been since she had taken one of her pills and deemed it necessary to make sure that didn't happen again.
We made sure that we bought our usual treats. Anyone who knows me would be able to tell which treat I CHOSE!
Finally, we decided to reenact our favorite Italian Restaurant. Mushroom ravioli with alfredo sauce and garlic bread. MMMM...it really was delicious and the perfect ending to a great couple of days. In between all of this, we got to watch many videos and listen to many of mom's recollections of her darling children! It's a good thing that she has selective memory and can only recall the good things about us six!

25 Year Dress

It's been 25 years since Dave and I had our first (and only) formal date at USU. Dave decided to celebrate it by setting up a fabulous restaurant at home with delicious food and a very attentive waitress. He one request from me was that I wear the same dress that I wore then! So, I did! Unfortunately, we had thrown away Dave's suit that he wore, long ago. Otherwise I'm sure he would have worn that.

French onion soup! My favorite.
Salmon salad! My other favorite.

Oh, we missed a picture of the chocolate cream pie! My most favorite. But here is our marvelous waitress. She really could have a future in the restaurant business.
I tried to do the same pose as the picture I still have from 25 years ago, but due to the fact that I had just dyed Cayden's hair black this night, I had black dye all over my arms! I had to crop that out. :)

Cado's Disappointment

For Valentines Day, I bought Dave three of his favorite things. Cado, Dave and Mariah all guessed what they would be and then I gave them to Dave. The funny thing about it was that Cado was so incredibly disappointed at the kind of Doritos that I had bought! He could not understand why I got the spicy kind! I told him that that was the kind that Dave liked. Cado said "yea but it's not the kind I like!" I had to remind him that "THIS" was not HIS Valentines present...it was his dad's! I told him that I needed a picture though because this "egocentrism" was going to be a perfect addition to my Human Development lecture!

It's a Small World

Dayton just called and told me that he had some cool news. He had just talked to a family that he had worked with for a long time in Houston while he was on his mission. In the process of preparing to baptize the children, he and his companion found out that the parents were getting divorced and were putting things on hold because of that. Dayton was sad about this and so were the children.

Well, he just found out in a conversation with this family today, that the mother and children are now moving right into the center of....Bo's mission! Is that a small world or what!
