Wind or Snow... Which Do We Love More?

It's time for the Roosevelt wind again. Spring can be quite a challenge in the Basin because the wind blows so hard. Here is Mariah at the soccer game on Friday. Notice the pole behind her. We get to enjoy the wind for the next 2 months. Wow, I don't know if I like the wind or the snow better!

Grandma Call is Sick

Grandma Call is very sick again. She has been in the hospital for 4 days. The infections are some that they don't know how to treat. Once again, it is a stressful time. Keep her in your prayers...please.

Dad Are You Going to Coach Next Year?

Cayden made Dave's day as we were traveling home for the Rock Springs tournament. He asked Dave is he was going to coach them again next year. Dave asked Cayden if he would like him to. Cayden replied very genuinely, "I'd like you to Dad." That will go down in Dave's book of happy moments!

I Just Can't Buy Enough Cereal!

Well I have found the cereal deal of the century. This goes into the record books with my Overstock sale in 1999 and my Shopko shoe sale in 2000. By chance, I bought 7 boxes of cereal because it was on a great sale of 3 for 5.00. When I checked out, Albertsons gave me a coupon for 10 dollars off my next purchase. I looked it over and decided to try my luck again and went and bought 7 more boxes of cereal. Again, they gave me another coupon. I was hooked and went right back in to buy some more. Each box of cereal ended up costing 28 cents!!!! I then found the same deal going on in Rock Springs and began the process again. Dave finally made me quit and go to the basketball game. It's killing me that I still have a 10 dollar coupon in my car!

Mariah and Emily Try to Stay Entertained!

Cayden's Rock Springs Tournament

Cayden's basketball team played in the Rock Springs tournament this past Saturday. They are such cute kids. They got to play 3 games and they earned 2nd place. They beat their first 2 teams and lost to the Rock Springs Giants...no really some of them were giants! The good thing about Cayden's team is that they no longer play scared. They have learned to face any opponent and play their best game.

Crazy Hair Day in Second Grade

Dave and I were in Salt Lake at meetings Friday morning when Mariah called from home almost in tears, saying that it was crazy hair day at school. I thought, "What can I do." Worse yet, "What can her brothers do?" So I quickly thought and said, "Do you want me to call the Whitings to see if they can do it?" She said, "yes." I called Lezlee and she understood my dilemna completely and Mariah went over for help. Suzie and Whitney fixed her all up. They did a much better job than I ever would have and Mariah had the craziest hair of all. She was proud of that!

Bo's Bigger Bike

Bo bought a bigger motorbike from Uncle Jim this past week. Dave and I picked it up on the way home from Salt Lake. It is a Honda 250 Enduro. That means it can go on the trails and on the streets. Bo is so excited. He really loves his golf course job because he finally has some money. His best friends dad asked Bo if he was going to eat oatmeal again all year to pay for it. Bo was happy to say "NO."

SLC Meetings

Dave and I are in SLC at meetings. We are in the assigned rooms for people who do NOT have laptops. I'm giving Dave Woolstenhulme a bad time about this!

The World's Best Chocolate Milk

I just had to take a picture of the world's best chocolate milk. Yep, this is one of Star Valley's bragging rights. A dairy has just opened up and is back to that "old fashioned" approach with the glass bottles and all.

Well, they make the best chocolate milk and everytime we got to Star Valley, mom makes sure that someone buys it and brings it home. She always says, "Did you see that I have the chocolate milk?" So, of course, we have to drink some.

It basically tastes like a melted shake. No one knows what their secret is, there are no calorie labels on the bottle. I like that part. I believe that all treats should delete the labels so that you can just eat or drink them without the guilt.

Easter in Star Valley

We spent Friday evening through Monday morning in Star Valley. There was still so much snow. Carbon was sick and Cayden only got to see him on Sunday.

Aunt Beth took the kids all skiing on Saturday. She was even willing to teach Mariah! Beth got Mariah down the hill once and then Mariah hurt her knee and Beth was about worn out. Needless to say, Beth said that Mariah was a good sport. Mariah got to spend the night at Hannah's house. Hannah is her older cousin who she adores. That will be the highlight of her trip!

Mom worked all Sunday to make a fruit salad. She kind of laughed that it took her all day...but it was good!
Dad enjoyed a bout with gout. Dave took him to the hospital on Saturday and it took 3 hours to get Dad the medicines he needed. He was sure in pain. But the upside to this was that it kept him around home!
The cousins gather after the Easter egg hunt. Emi looks into the sack!!!

Mariah got everyone excited about jumproping. She is still the champ though!

Stopping By Logan

We went to Logan on Thursday night because Dave and I had meetings Friday morning. We stayed at the Crystal Inn so that the kids could go swimming. They went that night and the next morning and said the pool was so warm.

We met Dayton at USU and brought him an Easter basket. (We really believe that he wouldn't have come without a bribe!"). He was riding his longboard and looked pretty cute as he rode off carrying that cute Easter basket! He said he got a lot of comments....

How NOT To Get Mad

Shirlene was in rare form tonight at the RS Mad Hatter's Tea Party. They asked her to speak on "How not to get mad." She had a lot of great stories to tell on the subject--I especially like the one about how she wouldn't come home when Dave burned the gulch down! She really ought to have her own cable TV show!
Carrie dressed up for the Mad Hatters Tea Party as well. Obviously she had more time than I had to pick her outfit.

Saturday Stuff

Mariah and I spent Saturday taking Flat Stanley all around Roosevelt for her cousin Gage's special book. Flat Stanley comes in the mail and you are supposed to show him all around and then mail him back.

We went to the library.

We went to Rockies. Of course we had to eat!
We went to rent a dvd.

Dave and Dayton worked on Dayton's shed and Wilma got moved out to the barn. Can you see how tiny she is? But she is happy. We thought it was spring but we got 6 inches of snow Saturday night!

Bo's Soccer

Bo's team played Carbon on Friday. It was freezing. Grandma and Grandpa Law came at 3:30 but found out Bo's game wasn't until 5:00. They decided to go home, which was a wise decision. Bo's team tied 0-0. Bo is one good defender!

Dedicated Soccer Mom

Dedicated Soccer Mom--prefers to cheer for her son out on the field in freezing temperatures and biting cold wind to the comfort of her heated vehicle.

Mariah's Note

This note was hanging on my bedroom door last night when I got home. Just in case you can't read it it says, "Mom, tomorow can I please have a day off and come to work with you? I have been verey good! Circle your ansewer and I'll see it in the morning. YES NO
Of course I circled YES, but Mariah decided to go to school anyway!

We are the Champions!

Tonight our volleyball team got 1st place! For the last two years we have come in 2nd or 3rd, so we were bound and determined to beat Duncan Trucking (who have taken 1st every year for as long as I can remember). We actually tied for 1st, but it felt GOOD! Plus, we are WAY better looking than them! (Ranell, Lisa, Alicia, Carrie, Shirlene, Liz, not pictured Kerri)

Rock On...

The Whitings came over last night because Philip and Lindsey are home from Texas for a short break. What started out as a calm evening of conversation turned into a wild night of rock music... You should have seen Mariah on the drums!

Cup Towers

Mariah started building a dixie cup tower Saturday night. Cayden decided to join in and they got it this high and then they were out of cups!

Art Presentation at UVU

Joyce and I gave a presentation at UVU last Saturday. It was the State Early Childhood Conference. Our presentation was on art for preschool and kindergarten children. Our classes were completely filled and we had fun. By the time it was over, we were exhausted though! I think that I'll be able to talk Joyce into doing it again next year!

Our Blue Boy

Dayton asked us the other day if we had watched ESPN. Of course we hadn't because we don't have cable. Needless to say, we found out that Dayton was on it. Yep, he was one of those Blue Guys that you see trying to steal the attention from the basketball players!! I guess it worked because he got to be interviewed after the game. Wow, we continue to be surprised. When he was home, we could hardly even get him to go to a Union game...let alone paint himself colors.

She just keeps losing teeth!

Mariah just keeps losing teeth. She definitely does not have the Call genetics for this. Call's never lose their teeth. Today she lost another one at school and said that now her teeth are a pattern!

Wilma is much happier sleeping with Cayden than sleeping in her box. She cuddles with him for hours. Today he was sick, but she didn't care.

Bo and Christian

They're back. Yep, last year Bo and Christian came to the preschool everyday at lunchtime and ate the preschool snacks to sustain themselves throughout the day. They haven't been here all year until now. They have "re" realized that the preschool is filled with snacks and that a few snacks help them get through soccer practice. It's nice to see them around again!

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Today was Grandparents Day on preschool. It's one of those dreaded but delightful days. Dreaded because it's so much work, but delightful because it always works out. Mariah begged to be checked out of school so that she could come. I think that she still likes preschool better than elementary.
Angie and Mariah playing checkers. Checkers was such a hit today. You can see that Angie and I wore our matching outfits. Dave helped with dinner for the Grandparents and said he had to be careful to make sure he knew which one was Angie and which one was me. I wore cowboy boots today and just don't know how those cowboys survive. They will be going back in my closet for another 20 years!

The grandparents and preschoolers learning a line dance!

So Much Snow and Cold!

We've had more snow and bitter cold this winter than we have ever seen. It has been miserable. I just have nothing good to say about it. Dave is shoveling the snow that fell in just a few hours in this picture. Now the snow is melting and now we have water coming into our basement. I am ready for spring!
Bo has been working hard at learning his electric guitar so that he can be the guitarist next year for Jazz Band. He got to perform with them on Valentines Day. He poses for his picture. I guess licking your guitar is cool...

We also got to watch Cayden play a basketball game against West today. His team did the best that I have ever seen them do. They are such cute kids.

Look Who Read The Book of Mormon

We got to take Cayden and Mariah out to dinner last Saturday because the both finished the Book of Mormon before the end of the year. They worked so hard. The deserved a good meal!

Wilma

We have a Wilma at our house. Yep, she is an orphan pig. Dave brought her in last week. She was 10 days old and was just about ready to die. In fact we thought she would. She must have been hurt badly but we don't know how. Anyway, she is in our house now and she is loved and well cared for. Mariah and Cayden constantly hold her and she loves that. They take turns bringing her box into their rooms at night so that they can feed her when she wakes up. The first few nights Cayden slept ont he floor by her box but she kept jumping out and laying by him and he couldn't get to sleep!

This is a face that only a child could love.
