He Missed the Memo

Friday Dave and I were at Cado's soccer game in Salt Lake when I got a call from Bo to inform me that MY Honda had kind of gotten into a crash.  I was a little aghast because I have been driving that car for 6 years and I haven't had an issue at all.  Bo has driven it for 2 months and here we have a crash.

He went on to tell me that he went to run at the park and forgot to put on the emergency brake.  While he was running around the corner, he saw the civic rolling forward.  At first he thought someone was stealing it and then he realized that it was rolling on its own and he was not fast enough to get there to make it stop.  Unfortunately the bleachers made it stop and put a few dings in it.

I wondered how the car would just roll and Bo again repeated that he forgot to put on the emergency brake.  I told him that I never use the emergency brake and he asked me what I used?  I was a little confused until he told me that he always puts the car in neutral and pulls on the brake when he parks.  Sheesh!  Somewhere Dave and I missed teaching him that you NEVER leave a car in neutral...unless you want it to roll away.  Well now I think Bo has heard that message and I'm pretty sure that he will leave that car in gear from hear on out!

Dayton is a Cheapskate...but now Brooke knows it too!

Last Sunday Dayton and Brooke facetimed us for a little Sunday afternoon chat.  After the conversation had gone a while, Brooke said she needed to ask me a random question.  She then asked if we replaced the lightbulbs for our tenants. I told her that we made sure all the lightbulbs worked when tenants moved in, but the tenants replaced their own while they lived there.  Then she punched Dayton and said, "See, I told you so."  She went on to explain that their lights were burning out and they were down to one bulb in each room and that their apartment was getting really dark.  Dayton, on the other hand, had told her that they should just wait for two more months and then they would be in a different apartment and wouldn't have to buy lightbulbs!  Well, needless to say, we were coming up the following weekend and dropping off a few things at their house and guess what we added to their stuff.... LIGHTBULBS!  See, it worked.  Dayton did not have to buy them, but Brooke seemed very happy.

Teacher of the Year

We spent a little extra time trying to get pictures of me with my preschoolers last week.  We had to try to NOT get any cute faces of the kiddos on them.  That's kind of a challenge but we got a few.  I had the lovely surprise of finding out that I would be receiving the Teacher of the Year Award at the 2013 Early Childhood Conference for the state of Utah.  I even get to be on USU's ad.  Between that and my recent sightings at the movie theatres; I am practically famous!

Cado's Broken Hand

Cado broke his hand at the very first soccer game.  Landing on that frozen ground was a little hard.  Fortunately he has some very good pals who are helping him.  Here Carson willingly cuts his lambchop for him.  Cado was glad it was his left hand because he can still run the remote!  He did discvoer that he could not button up pants or shirts though.

Union's Pre Game Meal

Dave and Karen Woolstenhulme surprised the team with a pre game meal the day before the play offs.  It is never hard to convince these boys to come to a party if there is free food.
