Mariah's Halloween Concert

It was a (Wo)Men In Black Halloween Concert Theme this year.

Mariah was quite surprised to be the one orchestra student who was detected as "possibly being an alien."

She was checked for alien signs like bugs and flippers.

Fortunately, she was cleared and allowed to return to the group

Shirlene's First Early Childhood Conference

Well, it was a success.  Our first USU/UAEYC Early Childhood Playshop was held Saturday and I am thrilled to say...it exceeded my expectations.  We hoped for at least five registrants.  We got 57!  That is a great showing for the basin.

Betsy was kind enough to come out and present on the importance of play!

And, we tried to emphasize that point even more as the teachers played.

My "bestest" students sat all together!

We saw lots of smiles which was good.

I got to present on Writing in Preschool.

Hopefully I was successful at convincing the attendees how important writing is!

These teachers didn't even get to rest at lunch.  They ate and made sandwich shop kits.  Not a single teacher complained.  Why?  Well, because teachers never get to rest at lunch.  This is a typical day!

It was great to see the support of teachers who really want to serve our children well.

Hunter's Big Day!

It was Hunter's big blessing day today.  We got to travel to Murray to be a part of it.  Brooke's brother, Christian, was reporting his mission to Africa as well.  It was a busy day for Brooke's mom!

The hardest task I had was to hold Hunter up while Brooke tried to get him in his cute white blessing suit.

Cado did a little impromptu Peek a Boo, but I'm not sure Hunter knows how this game works yet.  He just looked a little terrified.

Jim, Jackson and Trevor showed up as well.  When they went to the church and didn't see a single soul they recognized though, they were a little worried that they were at the wrong place.  The look of relief they had when we showed up was priceless.

Hunter was perfect the whole time.  I don't even know if that kid cries.  Definitely did not get the Law genes there.  Dayton gave him the most amazing blessing.  We were all pretty teary eyed by the end.

Hunter and his Great Grandma Hunter!

Bo entertained the crowd by recounting his "How I Crashed Mom's Civic" story.  It gets better every time.

So far this grandma thing is working out o.k.  I just need to see this little guy more!

These are some proud, proud parents!

Our Halloween Decorator!

It's so nice to have a daughter who actually likes to decorate.  I am so happy that she has taken on the responsibility of making our house look a little more spooky and festive.  We now have orange solar lights, colored pumpkins, ghosts in the trees and an orange glow in our house!  We are hoping that this is more than enough to impress the ONE trick or treater who comes to our house each year!

Wooden!

This was supposed to be a fun family outing.  Going to get wood is one of Dave's favorite activities nowadays.  We think it is simply because he loves his chain saws.  He even bought another one yesterday.

To Dave's surprise, it was snowy and a lot colder than he expected.  (Our kids were not surprised!)

They worked nine hours straight and didn't even stop for lunch...which is Dave's #2 favorite reason for going wooden!  Dave had packed Oreos, Nutter Butters, apples, summer sausage, pop, sandwiches and anything else he could find to fill up two coolers!

When they went to leave, they found out that they were stuck!  Tired and hungry...they got to unload most of the trailer and then load it again after they got unstuck!  Hum, this sounded more and more fun as I heard about it.  I am sure glad I had the excuse of needing to go to Vernal today!

This morning the boys were up and at it early.  Gotta cut those logs.  Notice whose running the chainsaw.  Once again, one of Dave's favorite activities.

We are all quite certain that this wood and all of the other wood we "already" have under the deck are more than enough to get us through the next century!

Cove 1st Tennis Club

The Cove 1st Tennis Club has officially begun.  Practices are on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.  This week the Wallace's and the Law's showed up.  There was a two hour match between all nine contestants in the epic battle of KING.  The winners.... and losers were all treated to ice-cream and hot chocolate at Maverik.  Unfortunately, Maverik only had 13 employees behind the counter and 0 in the backroom.  Needless to say, there was only enough ice-cream to feed four of the nine hungry players and absolutley no hot chocolate.  I'm thinking Maverik may want to rethink its employee policy.  Where is Brad Call when I need to talk to him!

Steve and Dana's Wedding

Grandma Law finally got her sixth child married!  Steve waited 43 years to find Dana and it was well worth the wait.  He couldn't have found a neater spouse.

Mariah found her favorite cousins!

The wedding was supposed to be at Lake Powell, but since Obama has shut all of the national parks down, Steve and Dana hurried and found a lovely golf course instead.

Dana looked perfect.

Steven looked a bit emotional.

And then they both looked very happy.

Mariah, Brooklyn and Maddie with their "new" aunt Dana.

And all of the Law sisters and sister in law's together.  Grandpa would be happy!

The wedding party.  Steve had the cutest "best man" ever...all four feet of her!
