Bo's Mission Farewell

Today was Bo's mission farewell. It was a quick get home and get ready after our week long cruise! We got home at about 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, which was just in time to get out the frozen chili, chicken noodle soup, bread and cookies. Then we hurried and made some more food and hoped that it would all come together on Sunday.

Grandpa and Grandma Law and Uncle Steve were the family members who were able to make it because everyone else was still driving home from Los Angeles.

I think that Grandpa Law has decided that trying to get our kids to pose for a serious family picture can be more than frustrating. This picture happened only after a little reprimand from him!

Bo gave such a great talk at church. I told him that as his mother, I spend the first five minutes of his talk silently praying that he is "not almost done." After he met the 10 minute mark, I could actually relax and enjoy the fact that he really HAD prepared a great talk. The best part about it was his sweet testimony at the end. He told a special story about his interview with Grandpa Law and how Grandpa Law had said that he had not been worried about going to serve in the Korean War, rather he had been worried about whether or not he was keeping the commandments. He said that he knew that if he was keeping the commandments, he would not have to fear...even death.
Bo had rows and rows of friends who came to his farewell and then to our house for lunch. We are so happy that his life has been filled with such great kids.

Bo got lots and lots of hugs from all of his good buddies.
I just had to take a picture of all of his buddies shoes. Pretty soon, many of these shoes will be following in Bo's footsteps.
More friends. Blakeley is in the middle. She played a gorgeous violin solo for Bo's farewell. It made me cry more than Bo's talk!
The second round of hungry guests came after church. Thank goodness the entire Whiting family came to this event. Philip even came from Texas...just for it (at least that's what we chose to think!) Even Lezlee's parents were here. Basically because they had been kidnapped and driven to Roosevelt without a vehicle, but they were here nonetheless. There was a great ping pong tournament after dinner where everyone tried to be legendary Cado in ping pong. No one managed to do it, but it provided a few hours of really good entertainment.
