Tennis, tennis and more tennis is what we got when Dave and Mariah signed up for the UBIC tennis tournament. We thought it would be a quick evening and Saturday morning event, but it turned into a much longer and more fun event than that. Dave played in the Men's singles Friday night and to his surprise...he kept winning and winning. (Really he got some pretty lucky draws). Needless to say, he made it through Friday night as a winner and then had to face one of our apartment tenant's Jay, who is a semi pro, and it was obvious that Dave was out of his league.
Mariah spent all Saturday playing in the under 14 singles tournament. She had all sizes of competition and won them all to get to the championship match.
In between her singles matches, she had mixed double matches with Dave. Another surprise...especially to her, was that they kept winning. They even won the Mason's. That was truly a surprise.
Mariah and Dave after winning the Mason's on their own tennis court. It was incredibly HOT but they were very happy. They could have gone on to play another match but they had to come home and shear sheep. Good thing about that was..they went out as winners.
Mariah's championship match was against a 7 year old. Yep, 7! But, in her defense he is the tennis coach's son and the tennis coach played tennis professionally. He is going to be amazing to watch these next ten years!
