First Cove 1st 5K!

The first ever Cove 1st Ward 5k was held on Saturday.  We didn't have a big turnout, but the people who were there had a great time and went home happy, hot and tired.  We had Ridge Hadlock, who is 12 who even  gave up going to Olive Garden with his family to run and we had the cute Gamble family whose four boys were so excited to run it that they even slept in their special yellow shorts and one of them even wore his shoes to bed!  They even watched "MacFarland USA" the night before for inspiration.  It was just so darn cute.

There was only one accident during the race and that was when Jill Gamble's stroller lost it's front wheel.  Her little guy went tumbling out, but he's a tough kid and survived.  That was not enough to stop them though and they finished the race...wheeless.
This is Dave's picture for his promotional Facebook post to inspire the Ward to wake up and run!
Everyone was grateful for the water at the half way mark.  It also helped that we had a POWER button to push that gave us energy for the second half of the race.

Mariah and Emily were the water and Power girls.  They only had to fill about 10 cups.  ha ha

 Gamble and Hadlock power stop.
 Candace's power stop.
 Marlene and Jill's power stop.

This is probably the first time I will win a race.  Karen and I pretty much tied so we each took a turn wearing the prized hats!
Grandma Law even came out to be the time keeper!  What support.  It was a great morning.
