Day 4- Ruins, Ruins, Ruins

Today we visited 3 sets of ruins. I don't think I can even keep them straight. The first was Dzibanche which is a proposed site for the land Bountiful. It is in the jungle; however, a recent hurricane destroyed a lot of the vegetation. A highlight at Dzibanche was when we were able to see and hear howler monkeys. Click here to hear the howler monkey and click here to see the layout of the ruins (you can still hear the monkey). Wouldn't that scare you if you were in the jungle and didn't know what it was?

A Howler Monkey.

Dave and Shirlene are HOT!

This carving has the plaster still intact...well, sort of.

The gardener clears off ruins with his machete--he's faster than a weed whacker!

Our sad attempt at a YMCA pose at Kohunlich--Shirlene, I'm so sorry I forgot to put this one in the book!

Got to keep in shape!

Click here to see leaf-cutter ants which seemed to be everywhere!
